Glassie "Senior partner in a Washington law firm, has long been a historian of Washington and a collector of Washingtoniana. He is the author of several studies including 19th Century Churches in Washington. He serves as a member of the Board of Managers of The Columbia Historical Society of the District of Columbia. He is an authority on early American painting, and is, most recently, the author of 'Re-evaluation of a Thomas Cole Painting' in Museum Studies 8 (1976) of the Art Institute of Chicago. He is also director of Montrose Galleries which specializes in Nineteenth Century American paintings". |
