Memories of Abdu'l - Baha Stanwood Cobb Resident of 19 Grafton St, Chevy Chase, MD Date unknown Avalan Press Baha'i Faith Dr. Cobb was the director of the Chevy Chase Country Day School (the Cobb School) which was located at his home at 19 Grafton Street. Stanwood Cobb was born in Newton, Massachusetts in 1881 and was educated at Dartmouth College and at the Divinity School of Harvard University. From 1907 to 1910 he taught at Robert College in Constantinople, and after two more years of teaching in Europe he returned to America and was successively, on the faculties of St. John's College, Annapolis, the Asheville School for Boys and the U.S. Naval Academy. In 1919 Mr. Cobb was instrumental in organizing the Progressive Education Association, of which he served both as president and executive secretary. Mr. Cobb founded with his wife, Nayan, the Chevy Chase Country Day School. Stanwood Cobb was the author of over 26 books on religion, education and philosophy and several volumes of verse.
