At one time employed as the Acting Assistant Director of the Nevada Historical Society, he has also worked as a deputy sheriff in Virginia City, operated his own book store in Elko, and once owned and ran the saloon in the old mining town of Ione. McDonald is the author of two previous books - Nevada Lost Mines and Buried Treasure; and Julia Bulette and the Red Light Ladies of Nevada". About the Illustrator: "Dan Heath has been a commercial artist since receiving his M.A. degree from Cal. State Long Beach. Residing in the Los Angeles area until 1979, Heath then moved to Carson City and opened a shop on the Comstock. Today he operates the Nevada Western Art Gallery in Virginia City's Silver Dollar Hotel, where he resides with his wife and daughter. " |
