Ellen's Run was an annual 5K family fun run and walk held in Chevy Chase in memory of Ellen Vala Schneider. Schneider was an active part of the Chevy Chase community and a tireless advocate for the Mental Health Association of Montgomery County. She committed suicide in 2006, and Ellen's Run was held annually until 2015, with all proceeds being evenly split between the Mental Health Association and the Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School Community Scholarship Fund, another of Schneider's favored causes.
